B&B Dance Company Teamed-Up to Support Step Up For Cancer in 2011
September 9th, 2011 This summer several generous B&B parents, students, friends, and family volunteered their valuable time to help with the Step Up For Cancer Event at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. Altogether, 19 people volunteered 95 hours in support of the event. Additionally, the group was able to raise $200 in association with the event which will go towards the Children's Hospital Foundation. Volunteering for this event, and others like it in the future, is part of B&B’s renewed focus on community and incorporation of philanthropic activity into the Company’s various competitive dance team programs. "We believe community involvement is critical, not only for business success, but for development of leadership among our students; a benefit and virtue we strive to instill in our dance team programs." In its third year, the Step Up for Cancer event drew over 1000 participants to run or walk stair and stair-less courses at Dicks Sporting Goods Park. Runners and teams raised donations for the participating charity of their choice. B&B’s volunteers at the event helped to move supplies around the gigantic stadium prior to the event and helped as course marshals; cheering and supporting the runners. The Company would like to thank the volunteers and those that donated. "The Step Up for Cancer folks were extremely impressed by our volunteers. In fact in total we were about half of the course marshals for the entire event! They loved having the children involved and hope we’ll do it again next year. "
